Camp Pears

(Probably best prepared using a gas type camp stove.)

Although traditionally this calls for a dry red wine, you can use apple juice, cider(hard) or even water if that is all you have. It is best to use pears which are very firm.

Peel and core pears leaving the stem intact.

In a pan (Cousance is best because of the porcelain lining) put your chosen liquid and add some sugar, cloves, grated nutmeg and cinnamon. Bring to a boil. Stir and lower heat. Insert pears and simmer for thirty minutes.

Enjoy!

Additional treat: add some soft cheese (Stilton, Gorgonzola, Brie or Saga) inside the cooked pears. Also, crushed mixed nuts will make it divine!!!
